In the the first two hours after labor your health care provider will make sure that you are recovering well. During this period of time you also will be able to rest, drink or eat, breastfeed your baby or simply enjoy the wonderful moment that you are experiencing. Usually the baby is awake during this stage and he normally shows his interest in breastfeeding by turning his face toward your breast and moving his tongue and mouth.  Breastfeeding will help you maintain your uterus contracted by the release of oxytocin. This release of oxytocin, the first days after birth, can cause strong uterine cramping during breastfeeding.
